Patterson Hood Drives By
Tonight my sister and I went to see Patterson Hood's semi-solo (his buddy did some drumming) show at the All Good Cafe in Dallas promoting his recently released solo album "Killers and Stars" which I just purchased minutes ago on Amazon. I chose to order at Amazon because it was $3 cheaper than at the show (I know, I know, support the artists by purchasing at the show, well, I am of the theory of supporting myself). The instantness isn't there with Amazon, but I can wait a few days. Also thanks to a fellow I met at the show (Mitchell), I should be able to get my hands on a copy of tonight's show. Will keep you posted. Anyway, back to the quick synopsis of the show: Jeff Klein opened, playing for about 40 minutes or so. I enjoyed Jeff's music, but couldn't understand his mumblings while talking with the crowd of about 60 between songs. Patterson came on at about 9:30 and played for about an hour and thirty minutes or so, going through some new Trucker stuff, some old Trucker stuff, some songs off his solo disc, and he threw in a few stories about the songs, and a song about a story (about their first road trip). Very good stuff all around. Highly enjoyable. Below are a few pics (they came out a bit darker than expected).
